<<<I am also biased because I was the girl who always had the
crushes. I want Ginny to win one for me. It would be very satisfying
if Harry starts to notice Ginny in a different way. Even if he
doesn't, though, I still like Ginny and would like to see more of her
character in OoP. I'd like to see her prove herself, once and for
all.

JKR may be a little biased towards Ginny from personal experience as well, because of this quote from an interview on a train. :
<<<JK: (The train's whistle blows.) Oh no, is that us? (The train pulls slowly out of the station as Rowling waves exuberantly to a long line of fans. An elderly woman waves and wipes a mock tear from her cheek. ***A young girl runs along with the train, waving with all her might.) Oh God, this is heartbreaking, isn't it? This is like a long torture. It's always the little freckly girls, 'cause I was a little freckly girl. They warm my heart***.>>> (My emphasis)

Now where have I read this scene before? Ah, yes...
"The train began to move. Harry saw the boys' mother waving and their sister, half laughing, half crying, running to keep up with the train until it gathered too much speed, then she fell back and waved.
Harry watched the girl and her mother disappear as the train rounded the corner."
(SS, pg. 97-98, US paperback)
Sounds like she has a soft spot for freckly little girls, doesn't it?
~Lilac, who was a freckly little girl (and still is...freckly, that is...)

"Professor, can you show me that blocking thing again?"
Lockhart cuffed Harry merrily on the shoulder. "Just do what I did, Harry!"
"What, drop my wand?"
