Me: Actually, this "Dumbledore believes in second chances" was just a comment made and not an absolute fact. Now, with his wisdom and intelligence, I'm sure he does give second chances but I seriously think second chances only goes to those who deserve them, not cold blooded traitors who was inspirational in murdering the Potters. I VERY seriously doubt that Dumbledore would have ever offered a second chance to Sirius Black if he was guilty. And Dumbledore did believe he was guilty for all these years although that probably bothered him on some level. THAT he though Sirius guilty be a good enough reason for him not to go to Azkaban. I doubt if his dislike for the Dementors would have stopped him if there was a reason to go. He certainly wouldn't be afraid of them or a person unwilling to do something disagreeable if it needed to be done. Although, actually this is one of those little logical flaws you can find in any long literary story. The fact is, you would have thought that Dumbledore would have at least wanted to talk to Black and hear what he had to say. I'm sure he could have if he wanted to. I doubt there really is a logical reason for him not to have gone but then not EVERY little thread can be neatly tied up in a story such as this no matter how logically consistant it may be overall.
