I really think that Hermione would be an over-achiever regardless of
whether she went to a muggle school or a wizard school. As a high
school teacher I see many bright to just above average females who
happen to be only children who have personalities just like this.
They worry about every point missed on an assignment, not just about
getting an A. In fact my daughter, who is five, unfortunately is a
lot like Hermione, bossy, a know it all, a tattle-tale and an
overachiever already. I was that way as a kid. (Although I wasn't an
only child, I only wished I was as a kid. I never said I was a nice
kid.) ;-)
Is there anything in canon that suggest she has brothers and sisters?
