now, it's my turn again:

I apologize for misunderstanding your post, and I definately did not
mean to say that *you* have a pronounciation problem! I was actually
using the general "you" - to mean anyone on the list. Now that I read
my post, though, I can see how I could have made that more clear, and
I apologize once again!

Anyway, I personally say "a-knee-MAH-gus" ("mah" as in "man" - not
"mall"), but I am sure that if I were more learned in the ways of
language, I would probably pronounce it differently. That's just how
I read the word the first time I saw it, and first impressions (or
pronounciations, in this case) stick in my mind forever!

So, is "animagus" really a made-up word? Obviously, it has some kind
of base ("animal"), but I always thought that it was a real word in
some language. I am probably wrong, though!

Lastly, I would like to say that I definately had a lot of problems
with pronouncing some of the names and spells in the Harry Potter
books the first time I read them. I actually consulted a friend about
the pronounciations, because she had heard the books-on-tape and we
assumed that those pronounciations were correct. So, none of us
should be ashamed if we have any pronounciation problems!

p.s. It does bug me when people say "serious" when reading Sirius'
name. It is the name of a star (and a satellite radio company), and
is not made up (I know all of you already know this)! I met a
self-proclaimed "Harry Potter genius" who mispronounced the name, and
it really got on my nerves!
