Regarding "Animagus":

<< That doesn't sound weird to me, but then I guess I'm remembering the
Bible stories about the Magi (MAY-jeye), the O. Henry story "The Gift
of the Magi" etc. And Mage is pronounced MAYJ.>>

Me:

I say "ani" (as in animal) "MAY-juss" because I also think of the word
"mage." I can ACCEPT people who prounce it with a short "a" or with an "ah"
sound, but as far as I'm concerned, anyone who pronounces it with a hard "g"
or a long "u" is just wrong.

Regarding the other pronunciations:

Scholastic. I like the pronunciation for Lord Voldemort is pronounced:)

Me:

That is funny. I also checked out some other pronunciations and I was
shocked at how they said "knuts." I always said [NUTS], thinking the "k" sil
ent. This website says [kah-NOOTS]. That *can't* be right, can it?

And "Boggart" was with a short "o" sound, whereas I was always reading it
with a long "o." I had also been pronouncing "Patronus" [PAY-trun-iss], and
the site says it like [pa-TRONE-iss], which I can also accept. I think I'll
wait and see how "Boggart" and "Patronus" are pronounced in the movie because
I go correcting myself.
