Ye-es. I do think Madame Maxime is described as intimidating. But I
think she's supposed to be rather sexy as well:

"Madame Maxime drew herself up to her full and considerable height.
The top of her handsome head brushed the candle-filled chandelier,
and her gigantic black bosom swelled."

"'Of course not,' said Madame Maxime, fluttering her long black
eyelashes."

"'What did you know, 'Agrid?' said Madame Maxime, a distinct purr in
her low voice."

Maybe it's just me, but I do think she has a certain je ne sais quoi.
