things you don't understand."<<

Yes, that is interesting.

Rita Skeeter is a ticking time-bomb, to be sure, but I find myself
wondering whether the ramifications of Hermione's blackmail plot
might be even more serious than that. "Only knowledge, and those
too weak to seek it?"

I wonder if GoF's repetition of blackmail-inflected plotlines might
not be giving us a foretaste of precisely *which,* of the many faces
of the temptation of power, we might be seeing Hermione forced to
confront in the future.<<

What do you mean by "temptation of power" Elkins? Do you mean bad
temptations? Temptation does usually mean something bad, but I hope
she doesn't go bad! =(

Rita Skeeter, if she hadn't been caught, would still have written
about certain things that she overheard and then blackmail whomever
on whatever she didn't write. Since that's not that case, I
believe that this definitely will be Hermione's downfall. Rita's
going to get back at her real good. For once something is going to
backfire on Hermione in a very bad way. And not only her, but for a
numerous amount of other people. Hermione will feel guilty about it
and will more than likely try to fix things.

Hermione and Harry have a few things in common:
1.They are full of emotions mostly being very proud and determined.
2.They think things through and don't jump to conclusions, although
in this Rita Skeeter case I don't think that Hermione was in her
right state of mind.
3. Guilt. I believe that Hermione will regret what she did to Rita
and feel guilty of the consequences that will be brought about
because of it, just as Harry feels guilty of Cedric's death. And
they both will try to fix these situations, hence putting them in
dire situations.

Greicy
just really thinking of ways to put get H/H together ;)
