Was is the Jim Dale reading? His pronunciation of words differs from mine a lot, and I'm not sure that JKR had a lot to do with the recording.

Knuts *is* a strange word, and it's likely that the k is pronounced, although I don't pronounce it. Actually, I just remembered something - in the Russian translation, it's supposed to be pronounced k-noot *with* the K. But that makes it even more likely that it's the way the word *isn't* supposed to be said (that translation sucks).

About Lupin - I also said his name the French way, but numerous 'expert' websites converted me to lu-pin. And I don't know if that's really the right way to say it, given the apparent French ending of the name, JKR's history of teaching French and her love of using it for other names in the books.
