Naama not unreasonably asked for evidence that Ron
would naturally believe the worst, as Dicentra had
asserted.
Well, I have a canonical instance of him doing exactly
that.
"Padfoot Returns" - The famous Percy discussion.
Now, what exactly has prompted Ron to insist that his
brother would sacrifice his family for his job? That
Percy's a bit of a workaholic? That Percy worships his
boss? That Percy and him don't see eye to eye about
industriousness?
No matter how the Percy situation turns out, Ron's
reaction is a clear example of his willingness to
believe the worst. He doesn't balance this with the
fact that Percy seemed so concerned about him during
the Second Task, or the natural benefit of the doubt
you really should give to family members who haven't
expressed any intention of betraying you yet. He jumps
right to the conclusion that Percy doesn't care at all
for his family.
Unless someone wants to say that this stems from Ron's
bitter jealousy of Percy's being Crouch's personal
assistant, I think this incident dovetails very neatly
with Dicentra's intrepretation of the Rift. Ron is
quick to feel betrayed.
