       You know, I had a different reaction. I think that the name T. M. 
Riddle meant something to him due to the implantation of some of Voldemort's 
powers after the failed AK. "Voldemort put a bit of himself in me?"  
Parseltongue, obviously, but possibly, some of his own knowledge and memories 
as well. Including his birth name. This vague bit of Voldemort/Riddle's 
memories may help Harry later.
