Hermione's parents likely had a guide from the school, like Hagrid did
for Harry, taking Hermione and her parents and showing them how to get
in and all the first time.  I think once a muggle has been SHOWN where
it is and knows it for what it is, it might negate the effects of any
spells that cause them to not notice it.  The 'knowledge' that it is
indeed there may be too strong for the spell to work..
