Did anyone stop to think that Muggle parents might be glad their child was 
accepted into a Magic School? Not everyone is a Dursley or Tom Riddle Sr. 

Take the Evans, for example. True, we don't exactly know if they became 
thrilled (as petunia describes them to be) by the fact that Lily was a witch 
right when she got her letter or later on when they got used to the whole 
thing. 

Granted, there would still be the initial shock. I don't imagine it would go: 


"Honey, what came in the post today?" 

"Oh..nothing much...a few bills, those checks I ordered, a letter accepting 
Hermione into a School for Wizards." 

"That's nice. How much do we owe on the phone?" .... 

Some might see it as an opportunity to learn more about the wizarding world 
or something.  

Just a thought ^^;
