Did Quirrel actually die in the book? I know he did in the movie
but... I do not remember Quirrel actually dying... I thought he was
in the hospital wing with Harry? Am I reading too much fanfiction?

In GoF, Voldemort says (US paperback,p.654) "the servant died when I
left his body." Which could mean that he did die. Or that, like
Richelle says, he "left Quirrell to die"

Richelle responded:

No, he was not in the hospital wing with Harry. All we really know
about Quirrell is that Dumbledore tells Harry in the hospital wing
that Voldemort "left Quirrell to die; he shows as little mercy to his
followers as his enemies." I don't remember him being mentioned
again. It certainly implies that Quirrell died when Voldemort left
his body.

Yes, it clearly IMPLIES that. *evil grin* Voldemort may have left
Quirrell for dead...but does that mean that he necessarily died? I
don't really believe that he somehow got up and walked away, I mean
how could he have managed that without anyone noticing? But then,
Crouch Jr impersonated Moody (a good friend of Dumbledore's) for a
year...so although I find it unlikely that Quirrell is still out
there, I would definitely not rule out the possibility. Look what
happened last time we assumed someone was dead *coughPettigrewcough*
