I think you are confusing Britain with England.  Britain is a geographical 
division generally considered to include England, Wales, Cornwall and 
Scotland.  The United Kingdom also includes Northern Ireland.  Calling 
Scotland a part of England is inaccurate; calling it a part of Britain is 
accurate.  You might get beat up either way, though.
