If Muggles are unaware of Wizards, why do they agree to send their kids to Wizarding schools?

Which could account, at least in part, for Petunia Evans Dursley's
bitterness about how (in her view) their parents seemed to favor Lily
over her. Perhaps there was a lot of sibling rivalry between Petunia
and Lily, though I think it's more likely that Petunia was jealous
of the positive attention that Lily received for being "the real
witch in the family". We really don't know much about Lily the person
yet, other than that she sacrificed her life to save Harry's, but
Lily has seemed to me like one of those "golden girls", the girl
who's smart, pretty, talented, and who all the boys are interested in-
-and she ends up marrying her soul mate, who happens to be handsome,
popular, talented and rich...while Petunia ends up marrying... Vernon
(UGGGGHHHHHHH)!! Geez, that would be enough to make anyone
bitter... ;)

(or maybe Petunia is just bitter about being a squib)
