Hagrid and Voldermort

And when Scabbers/Pettigrew was found, he was in Hagrid's 
hut.  Why on earth would he be there unless he had some 
reason to be?  I think someone else on the list speculated that 
Pettigrew was there to steal the wand back for Voldemort.  It has 
to have gotten back to him somehow; otherwise, he wouldn't 
have had his own (Fawkes-feathered) wand after all these years 
and transformations.
