May I not share your beliefs of Snape's fairness? :)
I would like to think that he knows about Harry's life, if he
Dumbledore's right hand.
If he does not know, I am still failing to see how is it fair for the
teacher to take a "preventive strike" at the child, who is just
thrown in the new world.

There's alot more to Snape than that.
I DO NOT HATE Snape. Sorry, just wanted to make that clear. I like
him a lot in general. I know that there is much more to him and his
mystery intrigues me. But I extremely dislike him as a teacher. I
think he should find himself a new occupation.

Yes, people will act as they wish, but teachers should not act as
they wish in their work environment. Snape may hate Harry as much as
he wants in private setting, but I want to kick him hard for what he
does to Harry and especially Neville in class.
