Molly could be in the Malfoy line somewhere and Lucius knows it but 
does not know her well (distant cousin or several times removed)

As far as Draco knowing Ron, I have first cousins I have never met, 
Sirius Black did not know his cousin Bellatrix well so it does not 
seem unlikely that if Molly was a second or third cousin on the 
Malfoy die, and a poor relation that Draco would not have known 
Weasley except by reputation (ie: hand me down robes, red hair-
Wesley).  Just a thought.
