I haven't been following this thread closely, and if someone else has already suggested this, sorry for being repetitive. I'm not entirely sure I believe Percy really turned on his family. I wonder if Percy and Arthur (encouraged by DD and the order) didn't stage the break to allow Percy to spy on Fudge. Wouldn't Fudge be more likely to trust Percy if he believed that Percy defied his parents to side w/ him (Fudge)?
