Did anyone else notice that in the DP article that talks about Umbridge
becoming High Inquisitor, there is a quote from Lucius in it, and it lists
his age
next to his name! He's listed there as 41 years old, which is right around
the age I think Sirius, Lupin, Peter and Severus are (this is my assumption
here
obviously, figuring that James and Lily had Harry when they were around 25
or
so).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the first canonical confirmation of age

we've received about *any* of the characters, aside from the schoolage kids,

of course. I know JKR has said in interviews that DD is up there around 150
or
so (is that right?) and McGonagall is in her 70's (which figures well into
the canonical knowledge that she's been teaching for 39 years).

But why bring up Lucius' age, specifically, and *not* bring up Sirius' or
Lupin's etc?? What's so important about us knowing his age, if not to show
it in
relation to the old gang??

Any ideas?

 Me -

Well actually an interview with JKR (don't know which one. Anybody?) said
that the Marauders were mid thirties in PoA which makes them 5 or so years
younger than Lucius. Actually 41 is quite an annoying age because it means
he wouldn't have been the same year as the Marauders *or* Arthur Weasley
(which as been another common theory).

Of course we're getting this info from the same paper that got Arthur's name
wrong so how trustworthy it is is debateable, but I think they'd be quite
careful about being accurate where someone as influential as Lucius is
concerned.

On a more frivolous note - I could have hugged someone when she gave that
age because I'm in an HP rpg and my original character has a bit of a
hate/hate relationship going on with Lucius and this puts him as the same
age as her. *does a dance of joy*
