I agree that this is a great theory and speculate that perhaps Krum 
has volunteered/was enlisted to moniter his former headmaster, 
Karkaroff, who we know is, at least, a former DE.  Even though he ran 
away when the mark burned (according to Snape), we don't know where 
he ran away to.  I think he may have been sneaking off the Hogwarts 
grounds so that he could apparate and rendevous with Voldemort.  I 
know we should have seen in in the graveyard scene, but perhaps he 
was delayed in arriving; Harry was a little too distracted to notice 
if someone else just silently slipped into the meeting.  Karkaroff 
seems to interested in his own self-preservation to not return to 
Voldemort, an action which is basically a gurantee of death.
