   Maybe. Snape certainly does his snarling best to protect and 
rescue James' son. And James did save Snape's life you know.

   Now what on earth makes you say that? Who else do you think was in 
the house that night? Everybody reports finding just two bodies - 
James and Lily's so did this third person survive somehow? But if so 
how did Voldemort get past him?

   Oh don't misunderstand me! I consider Snape quite the bravest man 
in the Wizarding World. The risks he's taken and is taking now spying 
on Voldemort and his DEs is appalling to think about. No wonder he's 
nasty and snappish living under that kind of tension!
