And it's worth noting, though apparently some haven't, that Snape
does NOT give his instructions then go sit at his desk and do the
crossword. He is CONSTANTLY moving among the students and is always
said, when mentioned (while not berating Harry and co.), to be
bending over so-and-so's caudlron. What, people, do you think he's
doing?
We see VERY few potions classes. I think we get...three ? in this
book? They have it at least twice a week, we're only told about the
ones Harry gets upset in. And every single time he screws up his
potion it's because he's minding someone else's business.
As much as I like Snape, he's not a nice person! Who ever said he was?
He's likely not the best teacher around either--he's doing a job he'd
rather not do in a subject he'd rather not, apparently, teach. He's
not the "fun" teacher who brings a guitar to class and teaches by
letting kids play "Jeopardy!". But guess what? All his students pass!
And I have to admit. As mean, nasty, horrible, and despicable
that "Whoops!" was when Harry's sample "fell" off the desk, I laughed
out loud. I laughed out loud the second time I read it and I laugh
when I think about it now.
...sorry harry, an accident. just like when you accidently fell into
my pensieve...
