Ummm ... perhaps it's a little like mathematics. Who needs to learn 
to add when we have calculators and computers at our fingertips? But 
it IS extremely important to understand the logic and way of thought 
involed with mathematics. I remember more than one math teacher 
becoming very cross because students continually asked 'why do we 
need to learn this stuff? We'll never use it in real life?' There 
could be parallels with potions.
