Now me:

I totally agree - although Sirius was my favorite character - I 
could see why she did it. If it had been a Weasley or anyone else, 
more people would be sharing in the grief. While others may have 
liked Sirius, this makes Harry all alone since Sirius was the 
closest thing to a parent and he felt that he knew what Sirius was 
feeling. They needed each other. And she made it so that he would 
have to work through it alone. 

I pretty much was dreading before the book came out that it would be 
Sirius for that reason... so... I went against myself about not 
flipping ahead and went far enough to find out that my worst fears 
were confirmed!
