I don't understand why it makes sense that Harry must be totally 
alone. And I don't think the relationship sufficiently developed so 
as to mandate its end. We got the sense that there were a great many 
mixed signals being given and received. Sirius may have considered 
Harry more of a "James-to-be" than a proxy son. Harry hadn't spent 
nearly enough time with Sirius to have more than a superficial if 
devoted relationship. It was all to be, in the future. Why was it 
necessary in the story structure to isolate Harry? Is this an aspect 
of a great myth that had to be fufilled?
Anyone out there enlighten me.
