Maybe Snape will finally get that Defense Against the Dark Arts job 
next year?  That way it frees up the potion's class and Harry can 
still be in the NEWT class.  However, Snape couldn't play the book's 
antagonist at school anymore due to the fact that he'll be teaching a 
class that Harry's actually good at, minimizing his ability to pick 
on Harry.  Maybe this can open up the door to Snape and Harry 
actually becoming friends? (yeah right...)
