I am sure I have read many times that the scarves of each house are
different (red/gold for Gryf and silver/green for Slyth). Perhaps
other house distinctions are made in the uniform (e.g. Rons prefect
badge is red and gold, another house colour themed accessory). I'm
carefully avoiding the film uniforms although I feel sure that JKR
would have at least had either some input or comment on these.
