I'm sure people are sick of me saying this since I seem to have said it at
least once every couple of days since the whole Houses discussion started up
again, but the trophy is *not* in the books, that's a purely movie thing. As
is James' alleged position as a seeker. In an interview JKR has said he was
a chaser. She has also implied but never outright confirmed or denied that
he was a Gryffindor.

As for house robes nothing in the books suggests that there is any
difference in the robes that the students wear, in fact since the polyjuiced
Ron and Harry mistake Penelope for a Slytherin I'd say that the robes are
all identical. Especially since the first ones are bought *before* the kids
are sorted. House badges on the robes to distinguish between houses is
another movie thing.
