That's not quite true, after Harry cast the Patronus at Draco during
the Quidditch match Lupin comment to the effect "...that was some
Patronus you cast..." and later in the story, Lupin (or was it
Dumbledore) comments about remembering the unusual form Harry's
Patronus took when he cast it at Draco.

I suspect that the Draco/Quidditch Patronus happened very fast and was
short lived, and caught everyone off guard. So it's possible that all
most people saw was a bright silvery flash streaking toward Draco, and
 weren't able to indentify the form. Lupin on the other hand had been
train Harry for just such an event, and would have been waiting for
the Patronus to appear.

Just a thought.
