OoP: Lily liked James all along

Am I the only one who didn't buy the "Lily hated James" deal in OoP.  
I mean come on people, for someone she hated she sure knew a lot 
about him.

Ch28 pg 571

"Messing up your hair because you think it looks cool to look like 
you've just got off your broomstick, showing off with that stupid 
Snitch, walking down corridors and hexing anyone who annoys you just 
because you can...."

Its obvious the girl had been watching him more than a little.  I 
don't think he would have had to change that much for her to go out 
with him - probably the rascal in him was what was attractive.
