Actually, Dorothy, Tom's right. We still *don't* know what Snape is 
up to. That exchange takes place after Snape has told Harry that 
there may be a connection between Harry and Voldemort, and that 
Voldemort may have access to Harry's thoughts and feelings. [Ch. 24]

So whatever Snape tells Harry, Voldemort may be able to access. I'd 
say it was a fairly safe bet that whatever Snape's job is, Harry's 
guess is *extremely* wide of the mark.
