OOP: What did Sirius do? (well maybe)

Sirius, in his showdown with his cousin (Bellatrix), is likely hit 
by a RED wand blast .. RED wand blasts are STUPEFY blasts, non 
lethal in otherwords .. so I speculate that he may only have been 
stupefied before he fell through the archway .. with a close 
reading, notice that JKR does not say Sirius died .. we don't know 
if the wand blast was lethal:

Chapter 35, p. 805 (American): 

  Only one couple were still battling, apparently unaware of the new 
arrival. Harry saw Sirius duck Bellatrix's jet of red light: He was 
laughing at her. "Come on, you can do better than that!" he yelled, 
his voice echoing around the caverous room.
  The second jet of light hit him squarely on the chest.
  The laughter had not quite died from his face, but his eyes 
widened in shock...
  It seemed to take Sirius an age to fall. His body curved in a 
gracful arc as he sank backward through the ragged veil hanging from 
the arch....
  And Harry saw the look of mingled fear and surprise on his 
godfather's wasted, once-handsome face as he fell through the 
ancient doorway and disappeared behind the veil, which fluttered for 
a moment as though in a high wind and then fell back into place.

I speculate that is he was to actually die, JKR would have hit him 
with a GREEN blast, or otherwise say he died as he fell. So my 
question is, if Sirius is alive and on the otherside of the gateway, 
what can he do? can he help someone cross back over that gateway? 
could this allow the rebirth of say his mother (especially 
appropriate if as some speculate LUPIN = JAMES)

Given the possibilities to the story if Sirius was alive when he 
fell, I am also certain that he is indeed alive.
