Also, are we sure that you can travel from the fireplaces in 
Hogwarts.  It would be pretty pointless to have an apparation ban if 
you could use floo powder.  Also, if you could travel into a 
Hogwart's fireplace, Sirius would have done so in PoA rather than 
trying to break into the castle via the portrait hole.
