I believe it's because Neville didn't know what Bellatrix looked 
like so he couldn't produce a boggart that looked like her--at the 
time.  His Gran isn't mean to Neville, not really.  It might be a 
generational thing and, given what happened to his parents, over 
protective.  Snape, on the other hand, reduced Neville to a bowl of 
jelly (he's gone thru something like 5 or 6 cauldrons).

Now that I think of it, on a rather tangential bent, the two people 
Snape is most horrible to are Harry and Neville.  Is it because of 
the prophecy?  And he is trying to "toughen" them up and get them up 
to speed with potions so they're better prepared to deal with LV 
and/or the DEs?
