Saw this too, and it reminded me of JRR Tolkien. At the beginning of LOTR as the hobbits go into the old forest Sam recounts how his cousin saw trees walking . . . later, Pip & Merry meet the ents. The two never connect the stories, though Treebeard asks repeatedly for them to keep an eye out for the entwives and to let him know if they ever hear news of their whereabouts. I always thought they did know, but never put 2+2 together . . . just one of those "what if" moments in a great book.
