My response has nothing to do with the text per se, nor does it
particularly reflect any accute attachment to the Sirius (too many
characters that I have liked have died in too many books that I have
read), but it focuses on the possible endings. With Sirius alive and
a possible agent to the plot, there is more there there (at least if
you are the author). So, I see its as in the plot's best interest if
Sirius has not been removed from the story, and can instead,
continue to play some surprising role. Of course, he may just be
dead. I believe that JKR left the door open; in other words, no one
should be surprised if Sirius still affects the development of this
saga.
