The death of Sirius was an odd moment of reading for me because,
unlike so many
others I guess, I was not sad about it at all. He really annoyed me
throughout the
entire book, and I just couldn't work up a tear for him. There was a
certain bravado
to his actions in this book, a certain immaturity that really began
to wear on me. His
willingness to put himself in danger in order to feel like he was
helping showed me
that he was unable to subordinate his feelings and needs to the good
of the Order. If
he'd just sat tight, he would have been of great use down the road
when his talents
were needed most. I'm sorry for Harry, as he has lost the closest
connection to his
parents and his guardian. But I have to say, I breathed a sigh of
relief that it wasn't
Dumbledore, McGonagall or Lupin. They truly seem to have Harry's
best interest at
heart whereas Sirius didn't always seem to. I have a lot of guilt
over my feelings
about this, so don't be too hard on me!
Pauletta the guilt ridden but relieved.
