Crookshanks appears to be half-kneazle/half-cat. Being the "Mother"
of 2 gorgeous, lazy cats I can tell you that every time any kind of
insect comes flying inside the house, they chase it wildly all over,
knocking everything in their way if they can. Even after the insect
is gone, they sit staring at the last spot they saw it hoping to
chase it again. About an hour of waiting, they sort of accept that
the game is over. Their favorite game is to make me run like mad all
over the house with a long white cord so they can jump over
everything trying to catch it. I sometimes wish I could have a
Snitch or something like it that would move around the house without
my assistance. The bottom line is that cats love to chase things
that moves, it keeps their hunting instincts active, they love that
game, and it's the best exercise for them.

So I don't think Crookshanks was a seeker, he's just behaving as the
kneazle/cat he is.
