fascinating characters, many of whom (like James, and Snape, and
Sirius) break the stereotype of nice = Good and mean = evil.

And I agree. Having 'goody/baddie' characters with no light adn shade
just isn't life - H/R/H aren't all good/bad so why shold anyone else
be? Ron gets jealous of Harry, H of him 'prefect', which is the
normal awkward teenager stuff. And I liked her portrayal of Sirius
in this book - he's stressed, feels caged in, is moody with people
and takes it out on Harry.

And maybe we, and Harry, neded theperfect imae we had of his paretns
shattered a little because nobody can be that great. I also agree
with others that I'm sure, though it seems to be reflecting a real
event,t he pensieve can be subjective and I'm sure Snape would have
done annoying and unfair things to jaems in the past.

Also, I suppose James and Sirius just weren't under the stresses
Harry is and were apt to be arrogant and bullies - but they did grow
out of it and com good in the end.

I'm really looking forward to hearing more of snape's past - just
what did he do to get Dumbledore's trust? but, then again, I
suppose you do need out and out baddies to just hate and look forward
to their horrible sticky end! Umbridge, for one, really got to me -
how annoying was the 'Hem Hem'?...ahhhhhgh!

Ahh - all this Conjecture over a book! (sometimes I think I
shouldn't think about it so much, but really the down feeling I had
after finishing it, after the story and sunk in, was really quite
horrible, so discussing it in detail is really a good therapy for our
new countdown to no. six!)

she did say she'd started writing it by teh way...
