Marc:> I came across an odd thing while looking though my copy of
Magical and Fantastic Beast. Someone probably spotted this millions
of ages ago ,but...there is a "wasp-like bug" called the "drumbumble"
I think(sp?) and the odd thing is that the letters "BUM" were circled
and no notes or anything else appear. It caught my eye because I
remember people on this list suspect that Dumbledore may be a bumble
bee animgus.>
The word BUM has been circled because it's a kiddy-rude word for your
bottom, and it's in keeping with Ron and Harry's sense of humour,
which is displayed in the pen marks all over FB. It's like "Can I see
Uranus, Lavender?". But a bit less subtle than even that. You'd have
thought they'd have got over it at that age, surely?
(NB - how old are they in these scribbles? I'm guessing it's set
during PoA, because Hermione and Ron have a scribbled conversation
about buying Dungbombs at the weekend, but I can't remember when FB
actually came out. Anyone set me right? )
I think the wasp thing is just a little observational detail. Maybe
it's a metaphor for the irritable "buzzing" which the Sirius vision
is about to do at Harry's brain. Maybe I'm now going a little far.
If you really feel the series needs another unregistered Animagus,
why not make it Ludo Bagman, he of the yellow and black striped
robes, former Beater for the Wimbourne...yes, you've got it ...WASPS!
Hmm. Where was he during OoP, eh? Buzzing around Hogwarts, that's
where. Yeah.
