I was just doing something completely unrelated to Harry Potter
(difficult to believe I know) when this little thought came to me,
perfect and fully formed as it were. (Kinda like Harry's appearance
to JKR...)
Privet Drive is obviously being monitored by the Ministry of Magic.
This may only be the case when Harry is at 'home' - but I wonder how
reliable their monitoring is!
We have now had quite a few occassions of magic being used in and
around the Dursley's home. Most notably we have the Dementor
incident and the pudding incident (see below)
Harry is 'blamed' for producing the patronus - GUILTY.
Harry is blamed for the 'trifle' incident - NOT GUILTY.
My point is why was the Apparation and Disapparation of Mundungus
Fletcher not called into question and Tonks does a whole heap of
magic when visiting the Dursley home.
How can the MoM not distinguish between a wizard (with a wand) and a
House Elf (with their own 'brand' of magic). Also would the MoM not
be suspicious that a wizard and known 'crook' (Dung) just happened to
be in Little Whinging. And what did they think when 8 or 9 fully
grown wizards appeared on their magical radar???
And how can the MoM condemn someone for breaking the Statute of
Secrecy when they keep 'pelting' the same Muggle house in Privet
Drive with Owls!!! This can't be usual behaviour for Owls can it -
crashing into windows, flying down chimneys etc...
Oooh! That last line just gave me another thought... How many
Muggle households of the 1990's do you know - have an electric fire
in their lounge room, but an open fireplace in their kitchen.
Petunia seems to me (and I'm sure it's stated in OOP) to be the kind
of person to have all the latest kitchen appliances, cooker, washing
machine, microwave, fridge/freezer, etc... What does she need an
open fireplace for!!!
Okay this post went on way longer than I expected and I really hope
it all makes sense
Any thoughts
