Snape missing Voldemort's rebirth

Snape was at Hogwarts. You cannot disapparate from Hogsworts, so 
Snape had a built in excuse for missing Volde's rebirth:

"Hey, Mr. Dark Lord sir, I'm sorry for missing the last meeting 
because I was at Hogwarts and it took me some time to get away. 
Please don't punish me too bad. I can tell you what Dumbledore, that 
scum, is up to."

Or something along those lines. Maybe it is this simple. He was the 
one missing and is the one that will be punished. Karkarof is the 
one slated to die. Well, its just a thought
