I realize I am hurtling toward Off-topic stuff here, but I cannot let
this go unanswered.
The Cubs won the World Series in 1907 and 1908! They were the Team of
the Oughts! Damn it, give us credit where it is due!
So, no, I very much believe, to careen back to topic, that the
Chudley Cannons are the Chicago Cubs. Ron fits the profile of a Cubs
fan more than a Red Sox fan. (I lived in Boston for two years, so I
know of what I speak.)
A Cubs fan is a cheerful sort, happy to get close once in a while so
long as the beer is flowing and they ivy at Wrigley is green. Kinda
like Ron. Give him some butterbeer and he's OK.
A Red Sox fan is a tooth-gnashing, woe-is-me, hide-the-razor-blades-
and-sleeping pills kind of person. A total drama queen.
In other words, Snape!

-- Amy will be happy to know that my favorite Cub of all time is
Andre Dawson, who brightened the lives of Expos' fans once upon a
time.
