To me was the reaction of Harry after Siruis died, when he wanted to
run into the archway and Lupin was holding him telling him that
there's nothing he can do and then Harry realizing that Sirius has
never kept him waiting for him. It was too much! Especially since JKR
put Lupin and Harry, probably the only two ppl that like Sirius, his
godson and one of his best friends and somehow, Sirus dying left the
two of them even more alone that they were before. Harry has lost all
the family (sort of) he had left and Lupin has lost one of his
longitme friends who helped them going trough the whole werewolf
thing.

Well, if the place is going to be inherited, I'm thinking of Harry.
Why not the LEstranges or the Malfoys? well, the house is from the
Black family and more than once it was stated that the only Black
left was Sirius, they never mentioned Bellatrissa or Narcissa.
