> Where do you get that Slytherin is a 'faction' that has for the
most part supported Voldemort?

We have never seen a Slyth question Draco, disagree with Draco or
stray from where Draco, the clear Alpha Wolf of the Slytherins so
far, wants to lead them. The closest we came was when some of the
Slyths remained standing at the feast at GoF, and that certainly
didn't translate to any greater Slyth-Harry understanding in OoP.

Nor have we seen any Slytherin whose mother or father is actively
involved with Voldemort reject those teachings.

> Any Slyth would have to prove his or her loyalty.
> Loyalty to whom? Prove how??

Loyalty to Dumbledore and therefore to Harry's cause. It is Harry
named in the prophecy and he has the right to have some choices in
this fight. And being skeptical to choose kids from a House that has
so far, done nothing but taunt and oppose him, is his right.

He's the one whose ass is on the line now. And in war, safety
sometimes has to triumph over political correctness.

> > Perhaps that is

> Many of whose fathers? Yes, several of the Slytherins in Harry's
> year have fathers who are named DEs, but what about all the other
> Slytherins?

What about them? Like I said, until they are in canon opposing Draco
and his Junior Death Eater League, I don't consider them D.A. worthy.

> > All I know is that Harry would be a moron to just blindly accept
a Slyth. He already had a Ravenclaw betray him.

> But what would Harry have to lose by allowing Slytherins into the
> group?

If he let the wrong Slytherin into the group, he could lose his life,
his reputation again, his friends...

"Oops. Sorry, Harry, didn't mean to hit you that hard with that
spell. Hope you're OK. You're not? Oh, well, better luck next time."

"Mom, I was taking Harry Potter's class and he got too rough with me
and now I can't move my arm. Shall we tell the Daily Prophet?"

"Yeah, Dad, Potter is really good at these kinds of spells, but can't
do too many of these types of spells."

>There is no canon evidence that the Slytherins are a bloc
> of LV supporters, and there is also no evidence that LV didn't have
> lots of support from wizards and witches in other Houses.

As I said, the Slytherins, so far, follow Draco and his gang, who ARE
LV supporters. You don't have to have a dad who is a DE to be working
for Draco's cause.

Give me a Slyth who tells Harry he hates what Draco stands for and
thinks Draco and his ilk have corrupted what Slytherin should stand
for -- a kind of loyal opposition -- and I'll listen.

Because that's what a "good Slyth" needs to be. Someone who is
against Draco.

The main support for the elusive "good Slyth" seems to be, "Well,
there... there just HAS to be one."

Maybe, but not yet. And at this point, Harry should be very very
skeptical. After all, it's his butt on the line.
