Dan:

On a serious note, yes, I do think they are related... I was just
feeling slightly giddy having finished OoP at last (I tried to pace
myself, but ended up reading the last 250 pages in one go).

Veronica :

Actually, JKR said in one of her interviews something to the effect
of "No, that would be very Star Wars, now wouldn't it?" in reply to
the question of whether V and Harry are related somehow. So I have
a hard time believing she'll change her mind.

Me :

Quite true, but still, she's kept Harry's family secret right from
the beginning, even when it doesn't make sense. Right from the first
book, it hit me badly : Harry NEVER goes to anyone to ask about his
mom and dad (DD, Hagrid, McGonagall, anyone could have told him LOADS
about his parents). Then when Hagrid offers him the photo album, I
thought "Finally, we're going to learn more about his family", but
NO ! Aren't there any comments under the pics (which would have been
useful in PoA, since he would have read Sirius's name in that album
way before reading it in the Daily Prophet) ? When Hagrid says he
contacted people to give him those pics, WHY ON EARTH didn't Harry
ask him the names of those people, so he could write to them ???
Harry spends nights gazing into the darn Mirror of Erised, but each
and every time he is offered a chance to learn about his parents, he
NEVER seizes it !! I'm sorry, but this STINKS in my opinion. I grew
up without a dad (boy meets girl, girl gets pregnant, boy runs away),
and I clearly remember, when I was 10 or 11, going to my mum in tears
to ask her details about my father. And even though what she told me
convinced me not to go and look for him, I still wished to know more.
So if I had grown up without my parents, and suddenly I learned that
they were heroes and that there are tons of people who can tell me
about them, believe me, I would have gone and asked them questions,
tons of questions.

All of this to say : there IS something HIGHLY FISHY about Harry's
family, and that's why JKR never tells us anything about them.
