MARTIN wrote: This lack of crying by Harry bothers me a little, he survives
more
terrible encounters and undergoes more heartwrenching experiences by
the time he's 15 than most people ever do in their whole lives, but
never once a good honest (and understandable) bawling session. Does
JKR perhaps have a thing about crying herself which tends her to not
let her hero cry?

I have to say that for me the Mirror of Erised scene is a toughy to
get through without blubbing or wanting to hug Harry. And please
forgive me for the movie-contamination but when Mirrored!Lily smiles
at him and puts her hand on his shoulder and Harry reaches out to
hold it - and it's not there... I can't stay dried eyed when I watch
that scene.

Now ME: This lack of a good cry bothers me too. The scene at the end of
OotP where he has his cry by the lake is the saddest part of the whole
series to me. I can't stand that he's unable to find comfort with anyone
and literally hides in a bush to cry over losing his parent figure. It just
kills me. The wait for book 6 will be endless, I hate the idea of him being
with the Dursleys and even more alone with his grief.
