Muggle Sports

I was reading SS the other night and I came across something that I 
found a little odd. Those who have grown up in the magical world 
(like Ron and Wood) seem to be very ignorant of muggle sports (soccer 
and basketball are mentioned), yet they use common golf balls for 
practicing Snitch catching in Quiddich. It just seems strange that 
they would use something so common in the Muggle world and yet not 
even know about more popular muggle sports. And don't you think that 
they would have bewitched balls that they could practice with instead 
of golf balls? Just a thought anyway.
