Ginny spent her first year at Hogwarts possessed on and off by
Voldemort so it is not surprising that she kept her head down for a
while after that! Not to mention her crush on Harry and the teasing
from Fred, George and Ron that sprung from that. Now, at 14 she has
matured and has gained a huge amount of self confidence, and I like
that. She is becoming my favourite character.
She has faults a plenty - and like Hermione, I think these will be
more apparent in the later books I don't think JKR has ever written a
perfect or flawless character - even Dumbledore!
As for Ginny developing in one fell swoop - don't forget we are
seeing the action through Harry's eyes - he's only just realising how
talented she is! Just look at Neville - Harry does have a habit of
completley overlooking people at times!
